We were lucky enough to enjoy a Jacuzzi hydromassage and have a chat with Jacuzzi Hot Tub owner Charlotte, following her event at The Virgin Active London Triathlon on 22nd September. Here’s how the conversation went:
Q: How long have you been competing in Triathlons?
A: About a year, My first one was last year. I did 2 events last year, this one is my third this year.

Q: Is this your personal best time today?
A: Im not sure as I haven’t checked the times on the internet yet, but I think I did quite well; the swim was longer than the others Ive done.

Q: Was your previous to this event last year?
A: No it was in June this year.

Q: Do you compete in aid of any charities?
A: I have done previously, an event I did last year was in aid of a Lymphoma charity, I raised £900, so I was really proud of that, it really makes a difference, it gave me a good incentive to do well, I had a lot of support.

Q: Which hot tub have you got at home?
A: I have the Jacuzzi J480. We have had it nearly a year.

Q: So have you been using your hot tub in between events?
A: Yes I have. I enjoy using it more in the winter when it is cold.

Q: How does it make you feel?
A: Its really great when you’ve been out on a long bike ride or a run and you feel tired, to get in afterwards is lovely.

Q: Do you use it immediately after you’ve trained?
A: Not always immediately after. I usually use it in the evenings, I like to go in when I come home at the end of the day and use it.

Q: How long do you spend in there normally?
A: Probably around 40 minutes – I usually do 2 cycles.

Q: Do you feel like your general health and wellbeing has improved since using your hot tub?
A: Yes definitely I feel more relaxed, the tension in my legs is reduced. I sleep much better after I’ve been in the tub, because I’m so relaxed and de-stressed.

Q: Have you ever thought of doing any exercises in the tub?
A: No its not something I’ve ever thought about.

Q: Maybe this is something we could help you with, as we have some ideas from Italy, we could talk more about these at a later date if you wish?
A: Yes , that’s not a bad idea, maybe just some stretches to cool down after I’ve exercised.

Q: Have you got a favourite seat?
A: Yes I prefer the lounge seat because I can stretch my legs out and it feels like my legs are getting a massage. The jets feel like fingers massaging my legs, its really good. I like all the seats, but the lounge is my favourite.

Q: So you were proud to wear the Jacuzzi Logo today?
A: Yes very proud, I made sure my race number wasn’t in the way!

Q: What have you come to learn about Jacuzzi brand since owning your hot tub?
A: I think its a very good product , definitely top of the range, the products are so much nicer looking than other brands, and the jets perform so much differently to other tubs I have tried. I have only really been in spa’s within health centres, but my tub is much much better.

Enjoying a Jacuzzi® Whirlpool Bath or Hot Tub is more than just an enjoyable experience as it also has proven health benefits. The Jacuzzi brothers actually invented the world’s first Jacuzzi® Whirlpool Bath specifically to help one of their children who had developed rheumatoid arthritis.

The Hydrotherapy benefits of Whirlpool Baths and Hot Tub are well documented and are being used today within the medical sector to treat a range of physical problems.

The combination of warm water and the Jacuzzi® whirlpool jets create pressure which soothes and deeply penetrates your skin and muscles providing both pleasure and relief from aching joint and muscles.

Jacuzzi® Whirlpool Bath Jet

The warm, pulsating Jacuzzi® jets cause the blood vessels in the skin and underlying tissue to dilate. This increased blood flow allows the cells to take in more oxygen and nutrition whilst removing waste substances. At the same time skin pores are opened to cleanse the skin of impurities.

As a result of this action tired and aching muscles are relaxed and restored, circulation is improved, stiffness in joint is reduced and the skin gets a better tone, giving an outward glow of vitality.

All Jacuzzi® jets in our Whirlpool Baths and Hot tubs are fully adjustable so that you can be sure that the health benefits of the hydrotherapy are targeting the areas that you need.

So the next time you have aching muscles and stiff joints think of the Jacuzzi® Whirlpool Bath or Hot Tub that you could be slipping into to take those aches and pains away.

The healing benefits of hydrotherapy have been known to all of the world’s great cultures, with a history that dates back thousands of years. Jacuzzi® has popularized the ancient practice of water massage therapy for a new age. Relaxing heat, muscle stimulation, and lighter-than-air buoyancy relieve physical burdens and brighten the spirits. Researchers have observed the healing effects of hydrotherapy: decreased joint pain, improved circulation, and acceleration of the body’s natural healing processes.

Jacuzzi® Hot tubs & Whirlpool Baths are known for delivering soothing and stimulating hydrotherapy. The warm water and massage elements in a hot tub can help reduce stress, clear your mind, and soothe overworked muscles, which is particularly important to athletes! Whether you’re juggling work and family, recovering from a joint or muscle injury, or simply needing to unwind from the day’s stresses, hydrotherapy provides relaxation, healing effects, and nourishing rejuvenation.

Hydrotherapy can help bring about a good night’s sleep, may help keep joints moving, restore strength and flexibility and soothe arthritis pain. A hot tub hydrotherapy session is a great experience any time of the day or any season of the year.

Why hydrotherapy works
Water under pressure from jets can alleviate the muscle tightness produced by stress and anxiety through the application of direct massage and heat. From a targeted stream for deep-tissue massage to relaxing micro-bubbles, Jacuzzi jets give you a variety of hydrotherapeutic massage types.

How hydrotherapy heals
Water is used in physiotherapy to speed recovery from injuries, relieve muscle soreness by facilitating the removal of lactic acid, open the blood vessels to improve circulation, help the muscles around arthritic joints relax, and promote the flow of endorphins.

The benefits of Hydrotherapy to professional athletes has been used as a way of improving recovery time and Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs and Whirlpool Baths have played a leading role in that trend.

“Injuries to the lower back, neck and shoulders are common in our sport and I often recommend hydrotherapy to our players as part of an overall treatment plan. The hot tub and bath products from Jacuzzi specifically focus on the muscles and joints in these areas. They provide a great way for professional and amateur athletes alike to experience the benefits of hydrotherapy in the convenience of their home.”
